Color Outside the Lines

I joined the Quilts and More Quilt-along.  Using fabrics I already have, I started with purple to see if I liked it. Thinking the dark grey was too dark, I pulled out some lighter fabric. But continued with the darker since I had more of it, and figured it wouldn’t be too dark for the other colors. I have a rough idea of colors but keep changing my mind!
There are 6 colors and 16 blocks, and this what I have so far...

And now 4 colors
And now this

More donation quilts

First are two quilts from kits I picked up at the last Quilts for Kids workshop.  Such cute fabrics.  This first one is an “I Spy” quilt, kinda hard to see closeup. But it works!

Oh my stars!

I’ve wanted to make this for some time, this was going to be my valentine quilt.  Ha ha!  Pattern by Pat Sloan, I’ll make one in blues sometime...

May is my favorite month!

After finishing the last two donations to Quilts for Kids, I found some fat eights and a pattern, and this is on my design wall. There is enough fabric left over to make these 20 squares again in opposite colors for a second quilt. They’ll need borders to be large enough...I’m happy!  This is called Shadow Stars!

Where did April go?

This month my Bernina had a serious breakdown, her gears were worn out. My machine is 13 years old and 5 years ago the gears were replaced. The technician thought it rather rare for a second set of gears to have worn out. So for about a week I used my old portable Kenmore sewing machine

I really have been busy quilting, just forgot to take pictures.  The local Quilts for Kids group has a workshop once or twice per month and although I’ve not yet attended and stayed to sew I do pick up a couple kits and then return completed quilts plus one or two of my own. I did remember to photograph the latest ones completed from kits.  I am working on a new pattern using some fat eighths in my stash.
