And MORE grapes

I am overwhelmed with grapes! I didn't think there would be this much on Joe's vines, and this is not all - there are more left on the vine. There are 15 bags here! I only picked 5 bags at Elizabeth's yesterday. And I have run out of jars, and just ran to Wal-Mart, K-Mart and two grocery stores who all were out! All this juice and not a jar to put it in! I bought some gallon size beverage containers which will have to do. Maybe more people are deciding to can their produce, it was just a week or two I saw the jars in several grocery stores.

Grape time

When you can smell the grapes on the vine, it's time to pick them. So I picked all of Elizabeth's grapes today. They are Concord grapes, purple and white. I have a terrific steamer that makes it a snap to make juice. First wash the grapes and pile them in the steamer, still on the stem. Steam for one hour and out comes the juice!

Tomorrow I'll go over to Joe's and pick his grapes and make juice for his family. Of course I take a percentage of the goods!

Antelope Island

I took Heather out to the Island and we noticed the very low level of the Great Salt Lake. But we had fun putting our feet in the water, hiking up the Buffalo Point trail and looking for buffalo. We also went to the Garr Ranch where this quilt was on a bed.

Finished Maverick Stars

Here is the finished top, now I need to quilt it. I think it turned out quite pretty. Since most of the squares were made in Texas, it is called "Texas Maverick Stars"

Trip to Texas

While visiting in Texas this time I took a look at houses for sale. There were some cute ones and I got really excited over one in particular. Unfortunately it was just out of reach of my budget. But my sister and I had fun making Bonnie's Maverick Stars http://quiltville.com/maverickstars.shtml. We incorporated her idea of framing the squares that she used in Scrappy Happy Houses and applied to our stars. http://quiltville.com/happyscrappyhouses.shtml

Now we will each work on putting the squares together and see what we each come up with! Here are my stars so far, some are not yet trimmed square.

Tom's finished kitchen

this is a beautiful remodeling job, I'm really proud of their hard work. After refinishing the cupboards and installing tile floor in the kitchen, they removed that junk on ceilings, painted ceiling and walls, installed new lights in kitchen and dining room. Then installed Pergo flooring in dining room, new baseboard trim, new window covering in both rooms. Also new dishwasher. Really gorgeous.
