Step 6, layout time

The big squares are finally put together, ready for the layout. I am not sure about this quilt, still think there is not enough contrast..and after all this work. So many seams to match!

step 5 finished

Lots and lots of sewing, lots and lots of pieces. And after all that, I don't think there is enough contrast between the blues and greens! I should have thrown in a warm color for contrast rather than the black. I need to go to color school! But I can't quit now, and hope it all works out, perhaps the border will do some magic.

these are the green blocks laid out, although they won't be in this configuration, and here are the blue. When I sew four of the green together, there will be 13 blocks, when I sew four of the blue together there will be 12 blocks. Then we can see better what this is going to look like!

Part 4 is done

making headway, Step 4 is done, but I think i might have counted wrong and might be short one square - I'll count again or else wait until I get to that part!

Christmas and quilts

I gave 7 of my quilts to 4 grandchildren and 3 children. Here are some pictures of them with the quilts. Kayla didn't participate! And I hate that the picture of Elizabeth and Mira is blurry! Sami and Casey are more interested in Mira's new Wii....

This is a pretty day

Snow came in and cleared up all the fog - this is a prettier picture. Still working on Step 4, although probably won't get much done today as, procrastinator that I am, I still have shopping and wrapping presents to do!

Bonnie's Step 3 finished

Finally finished this step, it did take a long time.

not a pretty day

Since others post pictures of their weather, here is ours. Foggy, no sun, icy. But the geese don't care. This was taken from inside my nice warm sewing room.

Bonnie's mystery Step 3 started

Today I cut out 92 rectangles, 48 groups of 4. I don't think there are any duplicates! Now I need to cut the light 2.5" squares - 384 of them! Better get to work and not just take pictures...

Carolina Christmas, Part 2

Here are all the units! I was planning to introduce my 3rd color, blue, in the next step. But I suppose I could make that color red and it would be christmas colors...not sure what I want to do but I have been saving the reds for a snowball quilt, so likely it will be the blues as I had planned...

Carolina Christmas

I finally have gotten going on Bonnie's mystery. I am "cheating" by doing just a few from step1 and step 2. I just want to see what mine will look like!

okay here is step 1 all completed! I am doing the same size as Bonnie.

child's quilt for donation

these are so fun to make because they are small and quick to put together.
