Not sure what to think about this one!...

Moda bake shop QAL

They are 9 days in on the Countdown to Christmas QAL at the Moda bake shop, so that means I’m 9 days behind!  But I do want to join in it was fun last year. I think I’ll use Bonnie’s colors for her Frolic mystery since they are already lined up and available. Cool idea?  Better get started...

Yeah Bonnie’s mystery has started, here are my fabrics!  I’ve pulled strips for the first clue, going to the machine now to sew!

Winter quilt along

Working on Alycia’s winter QAL, using yellows for the background and greens and browns for the darks. Looking interesting!

Lone Rider finished

Seems like it took me forever to finish this!  I’m not used to making big quilts, have been making baby/child size this year. But she’s done and washed, ready to donate

I have also started on the mid-winter quilt along that Alycia’s running ...
Here are the colors, yellow, brown and green. Fun!

A most excellent day

Feeling like my old self!  Managed to finish the first two clues of Alycia’s QOV mystery....finally!

Now I know why I was so fatigued

Turns out I have had bronchitis and acute bronchitis for some weeks, and this would be the cause of my no energy. To compound things shortness of breath. So now almost a week on oxygen I’m beginning to feel my “old” self again. Stupid me I never went to a doctor thinking it would pass, but I really should have and caught this earlier before the need of hospital!

Well that’s behind me and I’m even working on Alycia’s mystery QOV quilt, plus it won’t be too long before we know what colors to save for Bonnie Hunter’s mystery. Life is indeed good....

Slow going

I’m still having trouble getting my quilting enthusiasm back. Picked up two kits at the last Quilts For Kids workshop, hoping it would help. They are finished, and I really want to do the QOV mystery although it’s over now!  I have a lot of charm squares, layer cakes and jelly rolls I want to use up.  I need a big shove!!  Here are the latest two QFKs quilts...

Wow..two months have passed

The long hot summer is over, and I’m back to the sewing machine. Finished four quilts for Quilts for Kids donation.  Now I can get going on Alycia’s QOV mystery quilt, and a couple other quiltalongs I want to do.

Another finish!

This is now quilted and finished, and ready for donation. Next to work on is the pineapple blocks. I know I put the directions somewhere...probably will need to search a bit on line! Searched my blog and here it is https://berylthepearl.blogspot.com/2014/10/saturday-pineapple.html

Started in 2013

Just about this time six years ago I started a quilt along, Nabby’s Dowry.  I pulled it out and decided to finish old projects before starting something new...how many times have I said that!  Well here is a quilt top about 40” square perfect for the smaller size quilts I’m making now. Even found some fabric in stash for the backing

And here’s one from about the same time, from a quilt along called Economy Blocks. Again I had enough blocks for a smaller quilt, so this one is ready to quilt

There are a couple more ready to finish, my pineapple blocks, plus an alphabet theme quilt. Will need about 3 extra pineapples, and have all the parts of the alphabet. Whatever the reason I put them aside, now’s the perfect time to finish them!

More finishes

These two quilts were made from Quilts for Kids kits I picked up at the last workshop. They are very similar

Next is the Jacob’s ladder variation

Jacob’s ladder square

here’s what I wanted, now to check color placement..glad I figured it out with no instructions! Ahhhh
And now with a border...

New quilt!

I saw this layout and didn’t realize it was the Jacob’s Ladder square.  So made a few using some charm squares and fat quarters. Jennie Doan has a cool video for making quick 4-patches. But I’m having some trouble duplicating the layout I want...need to move and rotate plus make some more. I can see there are numerous variations. Fun!

I’ve got it, need 8 more squares for a lap size. Here is the one I saw on a blog, 3and3quarters.net

Checkered hearts

i love this quilt, so cuddly!

Then started quilting Color Outside the Lines, thinking a circular design would be good. But I did a terrible job so nixed that idea and picked it all out. I might just resort to my wavy line, my go to favorite. I don’t have an intended recipient so I guess I’ll take the easy way out... I hate how lazy I’ve become!

For a new baby

I put together these squares using several pinks, dark pinks and aquas. The pattern is “Checkered Hearts.”  Wasn’t sure what to use for sashing then found this very old Peter Pan calico that’s at least 10 years old. I bought it at a yard sale where a lady was no longer quilting and had scads of fabric she used when working for the Quilted Bear.  I remember I bought a lot of her fabrics, this seemed the right one to use. But in photos it looks like tan when it is a purple and pink calico. I am using Minky for the back, my first time to do this, I’ve always wanted to try it. So far no problems, I’m about half way quilting it with the “wavy line” method.   A really awful picture!  It’s cuter in person...

Here’s a close-up

It’s a quilt top!

This lovely is now ready to back and quilt. Lot of seams to match!  I originally started out with purple in the corner, then realized I could use pink or red also in those places. Decided on the red. These fabrics were all from my stash, and it really didn’t take very much fabric. I was sort of following the pattern, depending on what I had on  hand.  It was fun!  Thanks to the American Patchwork and Quilting folks for the quilt-along...

Color Outside the Lines

I joined the Quilts and More Quilt-along.  Using fabrics I already have, I started with purple to see if I liked it. Thinking the dark grey was too dark, I pulled out some lighter fabric. But continued with the darker since I had more of it, and figured it wouldn’t be too dark for the other colors. I have a rough idea of colors but keep changing my mind!
There are 6 colors and 16 blocks, and this what I have so far...

And now 4 colors
And now this
