December progress

Here's what has been happening this month... Started Bonnie Hunter's mystery, On Ringo Lake.  First clue was 50 of these units:
the second clue was 200 of these (not sure about that number, but I made them all)
the 3rd clue was 240 of these, I have only made 40
and the 4th clue is 218 of these, I have only made 8
I have cut out the pieces for the 3rd clue, and am doing the same with the 4th clue.  Then when I have time I'll sit and sew them together.  It does get a bit boring, so interspersed with these I work on the Magnolia Mystery, which has us putting together the flowers - here is what it will look like:
and I am up to date with the Fat quarter shop mystery, block a month.  The December block is ready to put together...

This brings me up to date.  I did finish my Calico Disappearing Hourglass and send off -
Always something to work on!  love it..

more November Progress

I have this pretty one, another Disappearing Hourglass, pinned and ready to quilt.  Gotta hurry because it's a Christmas present!
For the Transparency quilt a long, I made mine on-point:
another ongoing project, to use up a jelly roll, is Cartwheels, not much progress lately.

And I have started on Bonnie Hunter's mystery, On Ringo Lake, but I misread the directions for the first clue (not a good way to start!) and will have to recut some squares.  Want to finish that today, as next clue comes tomorrow.  Picture later

What I'm working on in November

We got the colors for Bonnie Hunter's mystery, and I pulled mine from my stash that very day, hopefully don't need to buy ANYTHING!  although I don't have a lot of dark brown, so whatever brown I have will have to do.

Still working on the 3 mystery or quilt a long projects, as well as started 2 new quilts.  I have too many jelly rolls, so looked for a pattern and found one called Cartwheels, using a batik jelly roll.  no picture
Then because I liked the Disappearing Hourglass pattern so much and had a stack of calico fabrics I've been saving, have cut this up and started putting these squares together.  I have six colors, dark blue, light blue, pink, red, green, gray

It would be nice to be finished with these mostly before Bonnie's mystery starts the day after Thanksgiving.  I am loving the Transparency quilt a long, here is one square:

October Finished

All the quilt tops were quilted by the end of October.  Here are the last two:
Hedge Maze

Children's Library

So now I'm down to 3 mystery or quilt a longs, plus we now have Bonnie's mystery colors, so that mystery will begin the end of November.  Not surprisingly,  I have another half dozen plans for new quilts!  No slowing me down yet...

more updates for October

I have finished two baby quilts, both with flannel backing.   Big Star

and Triangle Trove

yesterday I finished my fishes quilt, Chuckles, baby to child size

I have two more pinned and ready for quilting.  Then I'll just have 3 mysteries left, and waiting for the Bonnie Hunter mystery.  I have so many scraps accumulated I think I need to make some string blocks, or some other idea that uses all these scraps!

and one more clue in the Fat Quarter Shop Club quilt a long,

October quilting

I have been busy, although  you'd never know it by my blog.  I've tried to post from my iPad, but apparently it is complicated  I'm not up for complicated, so until it's as easy as on the computer there will be big gaps of time between posts!  I did Google how to do it...not simple.

So I have 4 quilts pinned and ready for quilting.  I want to get all caught up on various quilt a longs and mysteries so I can just sit down and quilt!  Here's what is ready for quilting:
Big Star baby quilt
Chuckles baby quilt
Triangle Trove baby quilt
Children's Library, a Pat Sloan mystery.  I really wanted to find an aqua sheet for the backing, but found something else.  I show it after quilting!
and I just finished putting the blocks together on this one, Hedge Maze, a kit I bought a couple years ago and then forgot about!  It has a border I will put on, and I'm waiting on the backing material.  Then it will be ready for quilting.  It is kinda wild!  The fabric is Kaffe Fassett, such yummy material!  Taken outside...

Here is Hedge Maze with the border, taken inside...

and the mysteries I'm working on are the Fat Quarter Shop, Magnolia Mystery and Jet Girl.  Before you know it, Bonnie Hunter's mystery will be starting, Yeah!

September, and catching up

I am glad the hottest summer on record is slowly being put behind us.  Meanwhile I have been getting my projects either finished or up to date.  I made a new list of quilts I want to start, it looks like I have three quilts I'm currently working on and 8 I'd like to start, some of the new ones would be baby quilts.  Glad to see I'm still in the 'biz' because I was afraid I'd lost interest..must have been the heat.!!

So I'm up to date on:
1.  Children's Library (Pat Sloan) one more block to go

2.  the Fat Quarter Shop block of the month:

3.  the Magnolia Mystery, clue 1

Looking forward to the  Wayward Transparency quilt-a-long, due to start in a few days...it's more along the lines of a modern quilt.  I'm intrigued by modern quilts.

And I forgot to post a picture of my Solstice challenge, final...

Quilting done on latest QOV

I love this little quilt with the big stars!  It is quilted, looking for the perfect binding!
and I adore the backing, a sheet from Ikea,

Then I finished the 3rd block in the Fat Quarter Shop's quilt a long,
and one more on Pat Sloan's Children's Library,
So I am all caught up, just waiting for next clues.  Need to put the binding on the QOV and then pin and quilt my Summer Solstice!  Getting close to needing a new project...

Summer Solstice top done

Here is my version of Pat Sloan's Summer Solstice quilt-a-long, done in patriotic colors.. Not sure if I like it or not but oh well... (it should be turned  90 degrees to the left)
I now need to catch up on the other Pat Sloan mystery that I started at the first of the year, The Children's Library...also start cutting on the Magnolia Mystery!  busy busy
and here are my fabrics for this mystery,

Playing catch-up

After an eventful July, I am home and ready to catch up on projects!  I just finished the 25 blocks for Pat Sloan's Summer Solstice quiltalong, done in patriotic colors.  Just need to add some creative sashing for a very large 83" square quilt top.  This quilt is asymmetrical...
Then I am up to date on the Block of the Month from the Fat Quarter Shop:  picture is upside down!
And working on another QOV mystery quilt, this is half of the current one of Alycia's
and the fool I am, am starting the Magnolia Mystery at Meadow Mist Designs, still playing with fabric selection, but favoring pink and brown combo.

We had a fun family reunion in Flat Rock, North Carolina:

En Provence is quilted

Finally got this big baby quilted, and not without lots of problems...thread breaking top and bottom, tension issue on the back, and more.  Then I sent my Bernina in for service thinking this would solve my issues, but it came back in worse shape than it went in.  But perseverance, patience, and changing needle, thread and a lot of bad words and it finally hummed on to the finish!  Just the binding to put on and I sure hope that's a breeze.  Not going to make any more BIG quilts of Bonnie Hunter's mystery any more...
and now the binding!
