Jelly roll sizzle

This is sewn together, I have bits and pieces left over maybe put it on the back. Looking through my strips for either borders and/or binding. It’s about 48” square

Next up is a quilt along with GE designs, Victory  the first clue was a week or so ago, so I’m in catchup mode

This is victory

Petite plaid now finished

This cute little quilt is now ready for a snuggle. Wish I had someone to gift it…

Jelly roll sizzle

I needed something simple to make after that plaid quilt. Actually I started quilting it but I am going to take out the stitching cause I don’t like my wobbly lines that are suppose to be straight!  Any how this one is From the fat quarter shop and I don’t think it matters how you put it together…

Petite plaid is now a top

I am so surprised I made it through to this finish…I have enough pink strips to make strips to match the two pink sides. I don’t know if I want to I’m just glad to be done!  Next up is quilting Penny….

I hoped to finish the blocks…

This has been the most difficult quilt I’ve ever attempted, it would have been easier had I read and done the main instruction:  make a sample test of your seam allowance to get the correct size of the block!  Why did I think I could just wing it!  So many seams..I’m hopeful I can make a fairly presentable quilt…here are some blocks.  Don’t zoom in!

Petite plaid and problems

I can’t seem to do anything without some mistakes…so frustrating. After discovering I cut a strip set the WRONG width, as well as forgetting to move the needle before sewing, I’m redoing a couple of strips and of course don’t have enough leftover fabric. So I ordered more. These two blocks include one mistake and if I use them I’ll try to place them to be inconspicuous!  It’s really not as much fun anymore….

Petite Plaid quilt

I started this quilt a few weeks ago but hit a little bump in the road because I couldn’t seem to understand the directions.  After a few videos were watched I finally got it!  How stupid of me… so here is the first block, 15 more to go. Oh my so many seams to match!  From a distance the lines look straight, but not really!  The eye expects to see a straight line…   I’ve made some ironing errors and the seams are supposed to be pressed open  this is definitely a test of my patience.

Penny top is complete

Just finished sewing rows together.. I need to stay stitch around the edges since a lot of bias pieces. I really like it!

Penny quilt

I finished all 24 blocks, sweet production line assembly. Now the hard part, laying it out. Nearly impossible not to have similar fabrics close, but I’m still switching blocks around. The cat messed my layout a bit…

Some more blocks

This is half the needed blocks. I should be able to finish the last 12 blocks by sewing them all at one time, assembly line fashion…

August already!

I have been doing some cleaning up and finishing old projects, (pot holders). Now have started a new project, a quilt called “Penny”a real easy project once I  figured out what I was supposed to do as the instructions were vague. Here is a picture and here is what I done so far.  It’s fun and I’ll probably make another one with a pack of 12 fat quarters

Homecoming is quilted and bound

I’m not happy with the quilting but it’s done and is cozy. I ended up following the lines which are diagonal. I went one way following the lines but didn’t repeat going the other way. Maybe I should have…

Strip cocktail is finished! Oops this is Frida!

I really Like how this turned out. I have one more to quilt the homecoming quilt, then I’ll be at a point to start something new. I have quite a few on my want to do list. Since I gave all my fabric away and then bought new fabric I think I think I need to stop buying anymore and use Up what I have!

Frida is finished and ready to donate oops this is Strip Cocktail!

This sweet quilt is ready to leave home!  Next up will be Strip Cocktail, need to quilt it and find some binding. Leaving Homecoming for later, still can’t decide how to quilt it…

Finally finished a project started last November and how to quilt Homecoming

I finally sewed the seams and put the binding on this jacket …it will feel good come autumn

And trying to figure out how I want to quilt my Homecoming quilt.  Was thinking of a circle, going round don’t want to do straight lines but could do wavy lines. I’ve made the quilt sandwich so I’m ready to go…

Homecoming

All sewn together, need to press the row seams open something I don’t like doing cause I always burn my fingers!  Amazing this is made with just 2-1/2” strips…

I’m thinking of which quilt on my list to do next, I still want to make the two Bonnie Hunter mystery quilts I missed, on the first page of this blog, Indigo Way and Old Town. I bought fabric for both and actually started the first clue on both of them. I may have used some of that fabric for other things but mostly all is still available. Since indigo way is the newest maybe I’ll start with this one. But I’m going to make a smaller size which I’ve never done, mainly because I’m no good at quilt math!  Hopefully I can figure it out as I go along…

More homecoming

Well, this has been an interesting day working on the homecoming quilt at one point yesterday, after I had all the pieces cut out, I looked at it and thought how is this ever going to go together? And then I realized if I named the pieces and then named on the pattern where the pieces went, then I should be able to put it together.  I made a lot of mistakes, I cut two squares wrong and had to redo them. But I think I’ve got it figured out. And looking back it looks like it was easy.  It’s really easy to make a mistake! I ran out of room on the design wall so went to the floor   (Photos in reverse order)  tomorrow will sew this together!

Homecoming - the beginning

This is kind of a mystery how it comes together, it’s probably not as complicated as it looks

My beautiful peonies, they don’t last very long but I love to cut them for a bouquet

Strip cocktail top

Here it is, I do like it especially the white, a color I usually don’t like. Now to find a backing…

For my next project I’d like to do the one on my side bar, Homecoming.  I purchased the fabric about 2 years ago as a donation after a disaster, hurricane I think.  The fabric is gorgeous and includes the backing

Working on Strip Cocktail

I bought  a random set of strips, not matching at all, in fact I bought 3. It was from these I chose strips for the quilt along. Well I think this quilt is ugly as sin!  But I have to admit the more I walk by it, the more it kinda grows on me. It needs another row to be 5x6…  and now I am just about ready to start a new project even though I have the last one to quilt, need to find a backing for it  I have several on my want to do list

Working on Frida, also starting Strip Cocktail

Finally got the blocks done and squared up. I know I will need to move some of these around…hard to get a straight on photo as this is in a hallway  I decided to switch the 6x6 layout to a 5x7 size

Here is the beginning of strip cocktail.  Need to watch her videos to see what comes next

Alphabet letters and Frida

I finally remembered doing the alphabet letters, it was a gal who made birds and as soon as I searched for that, her blog showed up. I used to follow her but some of my favorites got lost and I couldn’t remember them all. I do remember she said they were liberated letters. And to make them all red except for your first name letter!  Love it when memories return!  I apparently didn’t have enough of background fabric left over so I improvised…it’s a mashup…the pinwheels are leftovers from trimming HSTs and I have enough to do both sides..

I started sewing together the Freida quilt but I forgot how it went together so had to watch her videos a couple of times!  And I also had to  unsew everything I sewed this morning…sewed two pieces wrong x36.  Something is off with my attention!

Looking for some wall to hang it!  Now what shall I do next….

UFO progress!

Finished putting together the quilted jacket I started in November 2025. It sure is heavy, the bottom doesn’t come together (because of my belly), and the back is quite a bit big. I did use a XL sweatshirt for the pattern which accounts for the back. I could make a couple darts but since the jacket is so thick it would be problematic.  For the front I could add a strip to both front edges.  Basically all I need to do is buy some aqua or pink double-fold bias tape to bind it

Next up is a color wash quilt I started years ago from a bag of squares I bought from Wanda in 2023 (the exuberant quilter). I remember I fussed and fussed with this and finally stopped moving squares, but I still think it could be improved!  Now I can put it together and quilt and bind it and this one is done.

The next thing I want to do is finish this alphabet sampler  I started in 2011!! I don’t even remember why I started it but it could be a nice backing for a child’s quilt.  Just need to figure out how to assemble…that’s probably why I stopped 15 years ago…..  oh and a couple hot pads I started two years ago for Christmas presents, or for me as mine are stained and burned!  Actually I love making hot pads, especially out of orphan blocks of which I have none😍

Hanging the Lone Star

I got tired of waiting for someone to help me hang this, so I did it myself. I should have cleared off the couch first

And started quilting the QOV. If I cannot find someone in my area to give it I’ll send to Alycia in Colorado. I’ve sent her QOV quilts in the past. This was the last quilt along

This beast. Is finally finished

It’s heavy and big, will give it a light wash then on to something else!  I love it… the backing is fabric that Christa had for sale

Finished and ready to hang

Trying to figure the best way to hang this!  Also have started the quilting on the lupine quilt…it is so large I swear I’m not making another big quilt
