Disappearing hourglass block

First you start with 2 squares, any size (I cut mine 8"), sew around all 4 edges, cut on the diagonals and put together as hourglass.
then you cut into thirds on all 4 sides and put together as shown
here are 4 squares with the dark corners together
and again with the light corners together
Is it not awesome?  I love it!  I think I will make a baby size quilt to begin with...

Elephant Parade Friday

Here is my elephant parade so far.  I can't seem to get good lighting in this corner!  I cut the frog and turtle eye out of black felt, so it isn't sewn down yet, nor have I done the applique around the bigger part of the eyes...
I started a new project after viewing the Missouri Star Quilt Company's video on the disappearing hourglass block.  Will show pictures when I have a few more done.  And I did pin baste a QOV quilt that's ready to be quilted, so making headway on my UFO pile - there are just 4 left to do, and I have the backing and batting already.  So my justification for starting something new is that I have one pinned.  But wait, I don't have to account for my time!

Bitty blocks, January and February

Only 2 more to do of the February blocks, then I can start on another of my projects I hope to participate in, listed on the right sidebar.  For the Elephant Parade, and pulled out all my grays and browns.
here's the last 2 basket blocks:

oh and my Christmas amaryllis has decided to bloom right on time for Valentine's Day! I've never had one that also had blooms around the bottom, very pretty.
try not to see all the junk in the background.
