Two step

Well I ended up sewing the squares together, the instructions have a narrow border next which I’ll do to “float” the squares as my niece would say. Then an outer border not too wide

Here it is floating and there are several strips left over I’ll use for the next border
Here she is ready for quilting

Two step, Missouri star quilt company

A very simple quilt using a jelly roll. This is one layout of possible many  I have enough strips left to add another row or column, it’s now 5x6, so 5x7 6x6 or 6x7 don’t think it would look much different  I will try another layout…also I don’t like the purple, may switch it out

Strip Cocoon

These blocks are fun to make and go together quickly.  This is the baby size quilt but I’m not sure how they are supposed to be arranged. Just any which way I guess!  There are lots of ways to rotate them….

Here is how I sewed them together. I’m thinking of putting on a border, deciding between a chartreuse color or a more green color
Here’s what I decided, sort of

In remembrance of my son

These mums were a Mother’s Day present last year from my son who recently passed away. Today is his birthday and the flowers are starting to bloom. I hope they continue to bloom before cold weather arrives. A nice memento…

Some more around the world

Made some blocks only 8 more to make!  Four blocks are left over from a previous project where I didn’t use all I’d made. These newest blocks contain lighter strips so I’ll need to place the older blocks so they aren’t so conspicuous.

And here’s the first 2 blocks of GE Design Strip Cocoon. I have a few odds and ends of jelly roll strips,  selected four colors. Hope this turns out interesting!

October is a beautiful month

This month started off in the beautiful way with fall colors, I made a trip up big cottonwood canyon to view them. Haven’t been up in years. It was a delight for the eyes and heart. I have 4 or 5 quilts I’m working on and hope to finish by the end of the month for donation at the next Quilts for Kids workshop.  Something very sad occurred earlier this month that has slowed me down. And I may not make end of month goal unless I get a move on!  I have 3 ready to quilt, an Around the World to add to, a color wash kit to put together, and a Designer BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop I haven’t even started yet I think there are 5 months of blocks to do.  No quilts photos but I did try a new recipe for milk bread with pic. It is so good…
