Some catchup photos

I completed another Quartered Stripes quilt, using a length of fabric from Connecting Threads.  It looks totally different from my first quilt.  Such fun to see the results!  I added borders to make it bigger.  This is not the finished quilt!  Need to find that photo...
Then I brought home two quilt tops my sister had quilted, and I finished these.  One is a QOV mystery
and the other was an earlier quilt of hers she never got around to finishing

I'm working on another QOV mystery, and we've completed two blocks, here they are laid out.

Surviving the heat

Wondering where the month of June went...I know, I was in Texas.  It was hot there and it's hot here, just no humidity like in Texas.  But hot weather is good...  While I was there I made a dress (Washi dress pattern), a hobo bag, and quilted a quilt.  Photos later, they are on my phone!  For July, I'm working on a QOV mystery quilt (Alicia on Yahoo groups), and debating what else to work on.  Meanwhile tending to my granddaughter who just had knee surgery.  It may be awhile until things get back of somewhat normal...

Quartered Stripes

Watched a tutorial from the Missouri Star Quilt Company with Jenny Doan, and just had to try out her technique for Quartered Stripes, using striped fabric.  I bought this from ikea several years ago.
Here is the length of fabric before cutting:
and then after cutting
I am doing a completely random arrangement, because I sewed the 4 squares together to make a big block.  It didn't occur to me to arrange the separate blocks...and I really don't think it matters!  that's my story....unless I decide to rip it apart

I also made a Christmas Tree Skirt for my nephew who requested one.  I bought a cute looking kit from Connecting Threads last year and  here is what it looks like.

Another quilt top

I love the Patch Pal quilts that were in the Quiltmaker magazine a few years ago.  This one, Purr Patch, appeared in 2011 and was fun to do.  This will be send to Quilts for Kids along with the one I finished last week.

First I finished the Simple Strips QAL by Christa Watson, or the Post-it Note quilt as I call it!
Then a quick make of a quilt for Quilts for Kids from their kit:

New project - Christa's quiltalong

I said I wasn't going to start a new project until I had finished up the old projects....but I just had to have a wee project so I joined Christa's Simple Strips quiltalong.  http://weallsew.com/simple-strips-quilt-along-part-1-materials-list-fabric-cutting/ It's an easy pattern but it feels good to do a beginner project!  I used a jelly roll of Kona pastels plus some gray fabric and here's the top:
I think it should be called Post-it Notes!  It's 48x60 so a real quickie quilt, then back to old projects, I'll work on my pineapple blocks...

after I posted this I realized I had sewn the blocks horizontal and I wanted them to be vertical.   So after a few minor changes, here is my top!

Orange Peel quilt is finished!

It shouldn't have taken a week to finish this since it only took about 3 hours to do the quilting, but I couldn't decide whether or not to add a border.  I really like the border...and there was no big rush.  This is another quilt for donation for Hands2Help.  of course the blog turned them sideways!
