Midnight Mystery clue done for October

This clue was easy so of course I did if first before anything else that could/should be done!  Boy the squares are big, 19" and with a mystery you wonder how everything is going to go together...

Rainbow scrap challenge, orange

finally got around to working on these orange blocks.  I noticed after I was done that one orange is quite dark, and so I put the red blocks up to compare them.  Guess they're ok, and they probably won't be close to each other anyway.  Now to get busy on the Bitty Blocks for this month...

Design Wall Monday

It seems to be a struggle to get going on my quilt projects.  But I did make myself sew up the September clue on the Midnight Mystery, square in a square.  There are just a few left I need to trim and then they are done.  For this mystery I actually bought the material rather than using whatever I had on hand!  A first!  I let someone else choose the colors, my weakest ability...

Sunday wrap up

I needed to get this bird house block done before the end of the month so I can get the next month's block free, at the Americana quilt along!  I had trouble following the directions, which seems to be my problem lately! But I was able to figure it out by looking at the picture.  There are 4 of them and I should have just done all 4 at once..but I didn't!

Next I added some more Rail Fence blocks, laid out here to get an idea of what colors I should add next...   I can't seem to get them all turned the same way!
and in addition to the Rail Fence square, there is another quilt in this fabulous book by Sujata Shah, "Cultural Fusion"  -- the Peppermint Pinwheel.  I made a couple test blocks out of sheets, and I see it isn't as easy as it looks! But it is cut freehand, so suppose you'd expect the blocks to be wonky ..but boy that second one is way way off...

Rail Fence

This is a very easy beginner quilt, the hardest part is coming up with interesting fabrics and cutting the curves!  But boy it will go together fast for the blocks are 16" - I've seen several around blogland.  For more information, see The Root Connection, http://therootconnection.blogspot.com/
and there is one MORE quilt along I joined (what was I thinking?) called Aiming for Accuracy.  Since I paid for the pattern I think I should join along...as soon as I choose fabric!

Midnight Mystery

It's been awhile since I did a mystery quilt, so when I saw this one at Meadow Mist designs, I jumped on it.  The first clue has us making flying geese the no-waste method.  They all look alike, but this is a good thing!

Another project I want to start is a paper pieced quilt-a-long with Christa at Christa quilts.(see http://christaquilts.com/christas-quilts-paper-pieced-qal/)  I have wanted to start it for some time now but couldn't decide on the fabric!  and I love the zig zag quilt, a wonky rail fence quilt a long at  The Root Connection, again choosing fabrics is my stumbling block!  So many projects....
