Snow and indoor plants

Budding out some more...
I can't get excited about snow like some people do, but it is pretty to watch it from the warmth of indoors. My rule since I retired is to never go out driving in it!

My Christmas cactus is putting out new leaves and small buds, the buds are hardly visible but growing daily. My Baby is watching it also. The cotton plant is just about ready to bloom, but it has been that way for weeks! I am hoping being indoors where it's warm will help it bloom, I can't wait to see it. The cotton seed is from Texas.

Pink project

I only make half the blocks, my sister made the other half, she made the letters and put it together. Isn't it cute?

Quilting today

Here is my progress on Bonnie's Tobacco Road quilt. It sure is slow but eventually comes together! I am working on this while waiting for the last QOV clue!

Tomato harvest

I'm coming to the end of the tomato crop. These are some that ripened indoors and are either going to be made into salsa or else cooked and run through the food mill to make tomato sauce. I then freeze the tomato sauce. I have one more batch like this left, then that's all until next summer!!

Mira - 13th birthday

We had a family party to honor Mira's 13th birthday. It was a beautiful fall day, the view of the colors on the mountain was spectacular, and it seems like it colored overnight. The reds are scrub oak, a scraggly bush but that's what grows here. The boys are enjoying that gun that Sami bought, it was outrageously expensive, but fairly harmless.

Circus

Here is what the Quiltaholics mystery looks like we did this past weekend. Isn't it cute. I wish I had someone to give it to, but maybe I can donate it somewhere.

And MORE grapes

I am overwhelmed with grapes! I didn't think there would be this much on Joe's vines, and this is not all - there are more left on the vine. There are 15 bags here! I only picked 5 bags at Elizabeth's yesterday. And I have run out of jars, and just ran to Wal-Mart, K-Mart and two grocery stores who all were out! All this juice and not a jar to put it in! I bought some gallon size beverage containers which will have to do. Maybe more people are deciding to can their produce, it was just a week or two I saw the jars in several grocery stores.
