Monday July 28th

I have been saving all shades of blue fabrics, first because I love blue, and second because I want to do one of Bonnie's http://www.quiltville.com/ blue quilts, probably Blue Ridge Beauty. Today I picked out the blues and creams I will use and so now I can get busy and cut.

I had set a goal of doing this quilt in August (I think that was the goal!) so I'm on track. I still have to quilt the Boxy Star Quilt and Judy's BOM star quilt http://www.patchworktimes.com/ starts August 1st.

I like to have projects! I have to have projects! Since I retired I am always looking to stay busy. I never realized what life would be like to have to LOOK for things to do! Do all retired people feel this way?? I am not complaining, just observing....

BOM update, fabrics chosen

Since I want to use Christmas colors on this quilt, I am pulling out my reds and greens of which I have a good supply. Didn't have much gold, so purchased some. Not sure what to use for background, but I'm wondering if that green print wouldwork - if it is too busy for a background.

Quilt of Valor - update

I decided to give this QOV mystery a try, and am using scraps of reds, blues and lights. The clues are coming every Friday, so lots of time in between to get caught up. In fact, I find I am eagerly awaiting the next clue! If it looks good enough to give away when finished, I'd light to have the extreme pleasure of donating it to the Quilts of Valor project.

Yasmeen's Birthday

Yasmeen turned 18 on the 10th, her mother had a party for her. She is off to Barnard College in the fall and she's very excited about going to NYC. She is very smart, loves dramatics and also is a very lovely young lady. I don't know why I take blurry photos..

Star BOM

And I also want to find materials for Judy Laquidara's star sampler quilt top http://www.patchworktimes.com/star-bom/. This is going to take a year to complete. I am thinking of doing reds and greens...

QOV Mystery

I thought I would do the Quilt of Valor mystery however have not selected fabrics yet, need to dig thru my scraps. I'd really like to use of some of my plaid shirt materials, even though I think the directions said that usual line, "not suitable for plaids...." One of my granddaughters wants to do it with me, so we might work on one together and then she can take it home.

July 14th

Where does the time go! Last Friday a Siamese cat wandered into my son's yard, he begged me to give it a home as he already has 3 cats. Reluctantly I picked it up, took it to the Humane Society for vaccination and brought him home. For the last 3 nights this cat has cried and meowed for something I am unable to provide, I think he wants to go outside. I have not had an inside only cat and I now live in a small condo. This cat is really too big for my condo, so I am not at all pleased with the arrangement and may not keep him. So I need to find him a home. He is a sweet and mellow cat, but he really interferes with my lifestyle! I might need to let him outside a little since it seems that's what he's used to.
